Reception

Throughout your child’s first year in statutory education, we endeavour to provide a safe, enabling environment where every child is recognised as unique, included and encouraged to thrive. We value strong, positive parent partnerships and encourage children to become independent and resilient learners.

Provision and curriculum in Reception

Our curriculum is centred on the Characteristics of Effective Learning and is delivered through the seven areas of learning and development as outlined in the DfE Early Years Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The Characteristics of effective learning guide the interactions between the children and adults:

Playing and Exploring - Engagement

We actively safeguard and promote the welfare of all of our children and provide a rich curriculum that provides the learning and development requirements for the prime and specific areas of learning and maintains a broad, balanced and progressive learning environment.
