The Academy is led by our Headteacher Mrs M Senior, supported by her dynamic team of senior leaders and staff.

Mrs M Senior
Headteacher
Mrs Senior began her career as an English teacher after completing a BA Honours Degree at The University of Hull and her PGCE qualification.
After working in Essex, she returned to her roots in Yorkshire and since then has worked in schools in both rural and inner-city settings.
Mrs Senior made the move to primary leadership after working as Headteacher and leader in secondary settings. She is passionate about education and the change it brings to the lives of children, young people and families.

Mrs C Ellis
Deputy Headteacher
Mrs Ellis started her teaching career in 2013 at Glasshoughton Infant Academy, following the successful completion of a Primary PGCE, with an Early Years specialism.
After quickly realising that Glasshoughton Infant Academy was the school she wished to work in for an extended period time, she embarked on her journey into leadership, committed to the young people and their families within the Castleford community.
Mrs Ellis began as the leader of English, before being appointed as Assistant Headteacher, with a focus on the development of effective Teaching and Learning. She continued on her leadership journey in 2026, where she was appointed Deputy Headteacher of the school. Mrs Ellis believes that every child is entitled to a great education and thoroughly enjoys seeing children thrive during their school years and beyond.

As the School Business Manager, I am incredibly proud to be part of the dedicated team that makes Glasshoughton Infant Academy such a warm, welcoming, and vibrant place for our youngest learners. While my role focuses on finances, operations, and resources, my ultimate goal is to ensure that our school community has everything it needs to thrive. I love working behind the scenes to create a safe, beautifully resourced, and smooth-running environment where our children can explore, learn, and grow with confidence.
Working collaboratively with our passionate staff, supportive parents, and the wider community to sustain the unique village that shapes these vital early years is a true privilege, and it is what makes our school such a special place to belong to.
