Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2

School uniform is strongly recommended. ALL clothing must be marked with the child’s name. The colours for uniform are grey, red and white. Trousers, skirts, dresses, shirts, polo shirts, jumpers and cardigans are all acceptable forms of uniform for school. Shorts and summer dresses may also be worn in summer.

School clothing with our logo can be purchased from Better and Bright in Castleford indoor market.

Non branded uniform in school colours can be worn.

At Glasshoughton Infant Academy, we have a Pre-Loved Uniform Shop where uniform can be requested from the school office and sent home the same day.

Coats, hats etc, should have a long loop with which they can be hung up in cloakrooms.

For children in full time school, PE kits should be brought to school on a Monday and will then be returned home on a Friday.

PE kit consists of:

Outdoor PE Kit

• Tracksuit bottoms
• T- shirt
• Tracksuit top
• Suitable footwear (trainers)

This will ensure they keep warm and have the right clothing for the activities they will be completing that day.

Indoor PE Kit

Your child’s class teacher will update Class Dojo with the PE days.

Children are expected to arrive at school looking presentable as appropriate for an Infant child. Children are expected to have their shirts tucked in, looking smart and ready to learn.

Hair dye, extreme fashion styles and cuts are not acceptable. Children’s hairstyle should not impede their vision and will need to be tied back if it is. Handbands are not to be worn in school.

If children are wearing earrings they must be small stud earrings or small sleepers.

For PE days children with long hair should have it tied back. Earrings should be removed at home before arriving to school for PE lesson days, or Micropore tape should be provided by parents/carers to cover earrings for PE lessons. This can be purchased from the School Office at £1 per roll.

Nursery

School uniform in nursery is optional, however, many families do choose to send their child to nursery in the school uniform outlined above. Children in nursery have access to the outdoors throughout a session and will go outside in most weathers – come rain or shine, so please dress your child appropriately for the weather!

Although we do wear aprons for messy activities, we are sure you will understand that sometimes getting dirty cannot be helped, so clothes that are easily washable are essential. To help with getting to the toilet on time, clothes that are easy on and easy off are vital – elasticated waist and as few buttons as possible! A good strong loop to hang coats up easily is a must too. Please name all clothing, including shoes, to make it easier for finding its owner at the end of a session!
