We have recently appointed our first ever Eco Warriors at Glasshoughton Infant Academy who are now working hard to encourage the rest of the school to become eco-friendly.

Why do we have Eco Warriors?

Being an Eco Warrior is an ideal opportunity for our pupils to be more environmentally friendly and share important messages with the rest of school. It provides opportunities for pupils to communicate their feelings with other members of school, as well as influence decisions that are made.

Who can be an Eco Warrior?

Any child at Glasshoughton Infant Academy can become an Eco Warrior. Children were invited to complete an application form explaining why they thought they were suitable for the role. Each child then read out their memorandum and each class voted fairly for the person who would represent their class as an Eco Warrior. We now have 6 Eco Warriors, two from Reception, two from Year 1 and two from Year 2. Check out the brilliant drawings of our Eco Warriors!

What do our Eco Warriors do?

Our Eco Warriors help to care for our school environment and will have a different focus each half term which they will share with their class. The Eco Warriors will support Miss Fox to monitor the eco ‘missions’ across school, keeping a record of progress for each class and rewarding the class who makes the most progress.
